My First Christmas

Ten month old Addison couldn’t be any cuter by her family’s Christmas tree!

She’s a real doll, full of personality, and so photogenic. What a fun first Christmas her family will have this year with her!

Look closely … One of the family’s cats sneaked into the photo too! Now that’s the cat’s meow!

Happy First Christmas, sweet Addison!

A Wee Bit of Heaven

A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above,
a handful of happiness, a heartful of love.
   ~Helen Steiner Rice

Singing, dancing, clapping her hands, laughing and smiling, and trying her best to make a fast getaway — Willow is so good at all of these!

On a cold, windy Autumn day, I got together with her and her grandparents for an indoors playtime/photo shoot. Willow got to meet and greet Leo the Lion, my vintage puppet, who never fails to set the friendly tone for our time together.

This almost-year-old babe/toddler is pure joy–she fills many hearts with love!

Her grandpa already has her helping him in the garden, and grandma has shown her around the kitchen too. But for now, Willow prefers the bookshelf, where she sits surrounded by all her colorful storybooks.  In the Spring I look forward to capturing her with her trowel and watering can.

Bruno

Yay! Bruno has been adopted into a new home with a family! He has been waiting for this for a lonnnnnng time!

I took his photo at a recent adoption event at Purina Farms, Gray Summit, MO.

Bruno has been just one of the hundreds of dogs fostered and adopted through Best Friends Furever (nonprofit) led by our friend Dee. She does AWEsome work to save so many four-pawed friends–dogs and cats–and has worked with agencies all over to get these pets placed into fur-ever homes. Kudos to Dee and her foster families!

Happy life, Bruno and your new family!

Jake — HS Freshman

Jake is a natural in front of the camera, as is his sister, Grace (see previous post).

These two teens reaffirmed my faith and hope in their generation. They were polite and caring, with great hope and aspirations for the future.

I wish Jake all the best as he begins high school and sets his goal on being a medical doctor — maybe a neurosurgeon — someday!

Grace — HS Senior

I enjoyed a photo shoot with High School Senior, Grace, on a bright summer day. She’s so photogenic!

I wish her all the best in her senior year and in her future college studies to become a nurse.

The P Family

God gave us a gorgeous afternoon for the P Family photo session at a park  …

Gianna recently celebrated her FIRST birthday. She’s a real-life doll with a  twinkle in her eyes.

Big sister, Mary Rene, is caring and sweet. She loved every minute on the climbing wall and the playground slides.

I hope the P Family enjoys their captures, and I thank the Lord for just the “right light.”

Chloe, Betty, & Her HS Friend

This clever saying was stitched onto a needlepoint pillow in Betty’s home:

“A dog has a master. A cat has a staff.”

So true!

I captured these snapshots last week when I visited Betty, who is healing well from a broken hip and surgery, and her H.S. friend.  Thank You, Lord.

Betty and her cat, Chloe, are true besties! They adore one another.

I truly think each is a “staff person/staff furson” for the other.

Six Month Old Sweetheart

Willow Sophia is six months old already and her sweet personality shines through every minute spent with her!

Her mommy and both grandmas thought it was about time for some new photos to go into their special frames.

Fresh as a daisy … three generations together …

and playtime in her Grandma’s beautiful backyard …

Willow wins the Miss Congeniality Award! And an Awesome Wardrobe Award too!

Thanks for the fun morning!

God blessed us with beautiful weather and a great time together!

Presenting Little Miss A!

Babies are bits of stardust, blown from the hand of God. ~Baretto

This morning I met Baby Addison and her mommy, and we had some playtime in their beautiful yard.  She had just gotten her pretty mani in prep for her photo sesh! Just 3 1/2 months old, she had some serious moments, but wasn’t camera shy at all, and she gave us a few small smiles and a lot of baby babble. The morning light made her beautiful eyes sparkle.

Addison, you’re AdOrAbLe from head to toe! And your mommy has the cutest outfits and girly accessories for you too! I had so much fun with you and I look forward to even more in the future.  Muuaaaah!

Memorial Day 2011

May we NEVER forget the sacrifices of many men and women for our world,

for our country,

for you and me.

We have freedoms because of their service, commitment, and ultimate sacrifices.

Photos were taken throughout Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, Missouri, May 29, 2011. (Click on collage to see photos larger.)

Boy Scouts placed a flag at every grave site. Friends and families visit in solemness. Deer quietly roam through the acres of peacefulness. Special observances are held on Memorial Day here for the thousands of the thankful who are living because of these brave soldiers.

Thank you.

We know that two words are not enough. But that’s what we offer. Today and every day.

iheartfaces — Motherhood

Waiting patiently is a huge part of motherhood!

Since this photo, Erin is now the proud mama of a baby boy! And Caiden’s grandma is mighty proud too!

Head over to iheartfaces to see the beautiful photo tributes to motherhood–this week’s theme challenge.

J & B – Formal and Playful

To find someone who will love you for no reason, and to shower that person with reasons, that is the ultimate happiness. ~Robert Brault

B & J wanted a variety of photos this spring, so we found a pretty outdoor location in between the rain and wind storms. They’re a dear couple with great love for each other that shows through their natural photos. Except for a formal shot, no posing was allowed here!

I’m so glad we got together and made this session happen, despite Mother Nature’s constant barrage of bad elements. I’m so glad you endured the long drive to spend a recent weekend together.  My heart was warmed. 🙂

Thanks to both of you for letting me use my janeography time and talents with you and for you!

Earth Laughs in Flowers

Earth laughs in flowers.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Hamatreya”

My best friend/dear husband and I strolled through the Missouri Botanical Gardens yesterday with camera ready.

These are just a few of the hundreds of luscious blooms and new leaves in God’s gorgeous world. Red maples. Crabapples. Red buds. Daffodils. Tulips. Pansies. Viburnum. Johnny Jump Ups. I just want to live there!

Some of my favorite quotes about flowers:

‘Tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes!
~William Wordsworth, “Lines Written in Early Spring,” Lyrical Ballads, 1798

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
~William Wordsworth, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,” 1804

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
~Edna St. Vincent Millay, “Afternoon on a Hill”

Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you.  ~Edward Payson Rod

Happy awakening! Happy Spring!

Sisters, Flowers, & Chocolate Chips

Sisters are different flowers from the same garden.  ~Author Unknown

And my favorite “sisters quote”:

In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips. ~Author Unknown

These sisters are definitely flowers AND chocolate chips!

Little Miss Ava Is ONE!

A bundle of energy! A petite princess! An angelic one-year-old! This is Miss Ava Gabriella!

Ava, it seems like yesterday I was shooting your newborn photos! Now you’re quite the little model, showing off your climbing and balancing skills, sharing your gray puppy with me, looking so cute in your dressy dress, girly tutu, and even just a diaper.

Happy first birthday, dear Ava!

I’m enjoying watching you grow & learn new things — catching you sticking out your tongue at me and teasing me with your toys — and getting your photos for your family. Now don’t grow up too fast, please!

This Girl Loves to Play!

It didn’t matter that she was dressed to a “T” — after some more formal portraits, Miss Reese wanted to play on the park’s playground, and that’s just what we did!

She’s a five-year-old packed with energy and determination, she has a delightful and caring nature, and she shows off her mischievous and teasing personality in her twinkling eyes and cute smile.  I could just keep on taking her photos forever.

A Girl and Her Guitar

When this young beauty becomes the next Taylor Swift and hits the musical charts or lands a modeling job, she promised that I could be her career photographer. I will be able to say, “I knew her when … she played in her back yard … ”

I wish her ALL the best! She’s a beautiful girl inside and out!

Way to rock this session, Reagan! Love ya!

Singin’ in the Rain

and Baby, It’s Cold Outside were just two of the themes during this photo session with sisters R & R — they are such fun girls!

Their eyes sparkled and they played “Mary Poppins” when the wind gusted under their brightly colored umbrellas. Whoosh! Let’s have a tea party in the treetops! I actually thought we might! We laughed and laughed!

Instead, the girls and their mom and I agreed we’d all have hot chocolate with marshmallows once we got into our warm homes!

I count those pretty reflections in the puddles as bonuses in my photo-fun-day!  Thanks, sweet girls, for playing along with me on a chilly winter day!

Mike & Laura Waiting for Baby

Baby! It’s COLD outside!

Mike & Laura met me on Sunday afternoon for a few maternity shots just one week before their baby girl’s due date.  The blustery wind made us move from site to site quickly, and the new daddy- and mommy-to-be were so fun & natural to capture.

As we got fast photos and talked, they decided to get their little bag packed for this week’s antiticipated excitement, with a harsh winter ice and snow storm on its way. I reminded Mike to pack some soothing lotion to give Laura a much needed massage.

Talk about EXCITING! … The day after this photo session, Laura texted me from the hospital with the happy message that their baby girl had been born.

Thank You, Lord, for Baby C’s safe arrival, and for a healthy and happy new little family. I look forward to capturing Baby C’s newborn photos for you, Mike and Laura!

December Debutante

Dreamy…Creamy… A few captures of baby Willow, just two weeks old, so fresh, soft, and sweet.

Willow with her two very happy, proud, and thankful grandmas — Grandma Linda and Grandma Sandy ADORE her! Willow, you are indeed a heaven-sent gift!

Here’s Willow in a little Christmas red… While Mommy was at a meeting, I captured this special Daddy & Willow love!

The S Family: Our Three Sons

Three bright-eyed, fun brothers — bright plaid shirts — a sunny November afternoon — what more could a photographer want?

I enjoyed trying a new lens and capturing these sweet faces as we walked from one location to another on a pretty day. Boys are SO MUCH fun! Rocks, sticks, leaves … silly stuff … gotta love it.

I just hope and pray Little Brother gets his five new teeth soon–they were really bothering him today, but he was a trooper and got through the session with flying colors. Thanks, guys, and thanks to your very fun parents too!

Stan

In September I was blessed to meet Stan, his wife, Pat, their children and grandchildren. They asked me to photograph their family in their yard and home and capture relationships and playful settings. I was so touched to see their loving interactions and how much everyone loved Stan, aka “Grumpy.” What an endearing nickname. He was anything but grumpy. He was full of loving words and hugs, and his eyes twinkled as he gathered the little grandkids to him, read them books, shared treats, and talked with them.

Stan entered heaven’s glory this past week after a challenging illness. I wish I had had the time to get to know Stan better. However,  I’m grateful for the two occasions we had to talk. I’m so thankful that Stan and Pat and their family know and believe that Jesus is their Savior and Friend! It’s always a comfort to know that a loved one is safe and in perfect joy in Jesus’ everlasting arms. And that all Christians will someday rejoice together in the heavenly home Jesus prepares for us!

Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.” John 11:25-26

The A Family

The A Family braved the hard frost and cold temps this morning and gave lots of smiles! In between locations at the park, we had our coats and gloves on, and they just kept the smiles a’comin’.  At times I couldn’t see the boys’ hands ’cause they tucked them into their sleeves. So we kept moving–jumping, skipping, and everything boys like to do.

Such a cute group of kids and grownups! Baby A and Toddler L were a happy pair with their cold, red noses. I was happy to get some of the sun’s flare today too. God shined on us and He warmed our backs and our hearts.

Thank you, A Family, for the opportunity to capture your dear family and your love for one another!

Sweet Baby Julian

Six months old already! How can that be???

Look at this little guy’s bright blue eyes!

What a bright-eyed, cheerful, happy baby boy Julian is! He’s 100% sweet!

He has a curiosity about all his surroundings and was so quick to grab the falling leaves all around him.

He’s a marathon rolling baby, and he kept his mommy busy rolling him back onto the blanket and grabbing grass and leaves from his mouth.

Thank you, dear Bene and Julian, for letting me spend some time with you at the park on this beautiful morning!

Magical Mia

Mia is a magical three-year-old who loves to go barefoot, eat strawberry ice cream, and spend vacation time with her grandparents.

As we roamed around the back yard, we kicked the dry, rustling leaves, and I captured Mia’s spirit–a little bit magical and a little touch of mischievous in her cute grin and sparkly eyes.

Mia wore a very special dress her grandma chose, with tiny yellow flowers embroidered down the front pleated sections.  It seemed appropriate to create a vintage black/white photo to showcase such a special little girl in her dress. And isn’t her haircut adorable?!

I hope you come back another day to play, Mia! And bring your grandma again too!

Easy Going Evan

This sweet little guy just celebrated his first birthday!

He was so content to sit in the grass, wiggle his feet, look at his Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar book from all angles, and watch the leaves fall.

A big thank you to Evan’s daddy and mommy for asking me to capture his sweet nature!

The H Family

Seven grandchildren, three family units, and three generations comprised an Autumn family photo session at a pretty park. This is a sampler of the shots straight out of camera from our evening time together as the sun began to set and the shadows grew long.

What a beautiful loving family they are! And what polite and helpful children — their parents and grandparents can be proud and so thankful! I’m blessed to have been your family’s “shooter”!
